About the name
On a spring morning in April, my Dad and I were fishing in the Ouachita River, which runs through my home town of Monroe, Louisiana. We go fishing as often as our schedules allow, which over the past few years hasn’t been much due to my career advancing me to Shreveport. When we go fishing, there is usually a lot more talking than catching fish. As the morning progressed, things were quiet as we started down the river bank. There was a lot on my mind, and I’d been dreaming of starting a home building company for quite some time.
I’d been kicking around names, but had yet to settle with one. Starting a company has been a desire that originated from my inability to find an employer where I could thrive as an employee in a healthy environment. All too often, I found myself facing crazy politics, and company values that weren’t in line with my own. So branding the company with a name had to mean something, and had to be in line with how I wanted the company culture to be.
Something caught my eye as we made our way further down the river bank, a Blue Heron. Like an old friend I’ve known since I was a kid, he always looks the same, as he gracefully moves through the water. As we passed, his patience was notable while he stalked his prey. Then, all at once, he strikes and catches a small fish! He is successful, because God has equipped him with the tools that he needs to be successful. He has patience, a keen eye, and stealth that allow him to catch fish. We trolled on, caught a few fish, and I enjoyed the rest of the day with my Dad. Later that night, I began to think about the Blue Heron. His qualities are one in the same with how I want this company to be - patient, precise, accurate, successful, and one day great, just like the Great Blue Heron.
With a lot of thought and prayer, Blue Heron Homes was born and this is my vow to our clients, future employees, and subcontractors. Our Guarantee
Blue Heron Homes offers a great warranty package and a call back guarantee. Unlike some builders, we won’t hand you the keys at closing, and lose your phone number. We take care of our customers and do the right thing, even if the right thing means costing our organization money.
Our package includes a 30 day fix and touch up. This means that all of the little things that happen, or you see after move in, we come back and take care of it all at once. You may ding a wall during move in or have an off balance fan; don’t worry, we will come back. Also at the 30 day walk, we will recap on the initial training of your home systems to ensure you understand how to operate your HVAC system, your sprinkler system, and so on.
In addition to the 30 day fix up and touch up, we have a 1 year all inclusive builders warranty, which covers anything that goes wrong in your home. The warranty package also includes a 2 year electrical/mechanical systems warranty and a 5 year structural warranty. All warranty information will be written in your contract documents.
